C.K. KOH 許鎮權
C.K. Koh born in 1977 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Visual Communication from the University of Central England in 2007. He currently serves as the Deputy Head of the Fine Arts Division at The One Academy, a renowned college of art and design in Malaysia. He combines his artistic pursuits with a passion for education. Koh’s exhibitions have left a mark across Southeast Asia, where his unique style captures attention and admiration.
However, his journey took a fascinating turn when fatherhood beckoned. Motivated by the idea of unearthing hope within the monstrous, grotesque, and imperfect aspects of the world, C.K. ventured into the realm of children’s books. Here, he introduced “Box Boy,” a character on a quest for answers in a world teeming with life’s mysteries. This transformation demonstrates C.K. Koh’s versatility as an artist, skillfully shifting from fine art to the enchanting world of children’s literature while retaining his core exploration of the human experience.
His artistic creations reflect an intriguing blend of fine art painting and illustration, defying conventional boundaries. What sets him apart is his unique fascination with manga, pop culture, and childhood cartoons, which manifest in his satirical portrayals of iconic superheroes embodied by characters with distinctive box heads, inspired by the myth of Pandora’s Box.
Within this whimsical framework, C.K. explores a spectrum of themes encompassing hope within an imperfect world, the dichotomy of truth and deceit, and the eternal battle of good versus evil. These thematic undercurrents serve as a lens through which he scrutinizes contemporary societal, political, and cultural environments.
C.K. Koh’s versatility as an artist, skillfully shifting from fine art to the enchanting world of children’s literature while retaining his core exploration of the human experience. C.K.
